VICTORIA - New Democrat leadership candidate, Nils Jensen, today welcomed the support of former North Coast MLA and NDP Premier Dan Miller. Jensen said that he is humbled by Miller's support and is excited by the momentum his campaign has developed over the last few weeks.

"Dan was a first-rate MLA, a passionate advocate for coastal and interior communities, and an excellent Premier in very difficult circumstances," said Jensen. "His support means a tremendous amount to me and to my campaign."

Since announcing his candidacy is July, Jensen has traveled extensively throughout the Interior, listening to New Democrats and building support his campaign.

"The BC Liberals are not working for the Interior," said Jensen. "But to win the next election, we need to present British Columbians with a clear, credible alternative that understands the needs of rural BC."

Jensen said that his priority is to re-build a New Democrat majority by reaching out to British Columbians who want a positive progressive alternative to the Campbell government. He has set a target of doubling the party membership in his first six months as leader.

"Everywhere I go New Democrats say they want leadership that can do more than just criticize the Liberals. They want a positive progressive BC alternative that unites and inspires British Columbians from every part of the province. That's what my campaign is all about."
